About Grünerløkka

Once a gritty, rundown industrial area, Grünerløkka has transformed into a trendy district rivalling the coolness of other Scandi-capitals like Copenhagen and Stockholm. Settled on the east side of the Akerselva river, Grünerløkka is buzzing with interesting people making this a colorful and vibrant place to live. The old 19th-century factories are now home to microbreweries, indie theatres and hip cafés, and there are green parks, art galleries, cafés, bars, restaurants and shops to cater for everyones tastes and likes. There aren’t very many hotels in Grünerløkka, but luckily you can now rent your own apartment at Maya Apartments Grünerløkka.

About the building

Maya Apartments Grünerløkka is located in the old police and fire station of the Grünerløkka district. The firemen occupied the main building, while the police station was placed in the smaller building in the courtyard. Recognized by the prison bars on the windows, the brick building to your left as you enter the courtyard was the prison where the drunkards and villains were kept for detention, while the glass house to your right was the stable for the forses. Built in 1876 and in service for the citizens until 1973, the building has now undergone extensive renovation, making it Grünerløkkas most modern serviced apartments for short term rental.

Facilities

Wifi

All the apartments have free, high-speed WiFi. Look for the network called "maya" + your room number.

Cleaning

For stays exceeding 7 days, cleaning is included and will happen every week. Along with a cleaning of the apartment, bed sheets and towels will be changed. Extra cleaning or changing of sheets and towels can be ordered via phone: +47 917 07 780 (08:00 - 16:00 Mon‑Fri) or send us an email at apartments@maya.no.

Laundry

For a small fee, our friends at the senior center in the backyard will do your laundry. Contact the lovely people in their reception to make an appointment. It’s open between 08:00 and 15:30, Monday to Friday. They also serve coffee and snacks in their cafeteria, and a chat with some of the seniors might reveal some hidden secrets about life in the city.

Breakfast

Breakfast is not included, seeing as we have no restaurant. However, there are plenty of nice places to eat in immediate proximity to the apartments. Godt Brød, right across the street, is one of them. We partnered up with them feeling confident that our guests will appreciate it. It’s an organic bakery offering delicious pastries, sandwiches and salads along with fresh drinks and coffee. Their opening hours are 06:00 to 18:00 on weekdays, and on weekends from 07:30 to 18:00.

Cooking

Each apartment is supplied with a full kitchen complete with cooking utensils.

Oslo has a great public transportation system. Right down the street, at Olaf Ryes Plass, you can hop on the tram to get to the city center. The company is called Ruter, so head to www.ruter.no to find more information!

Cycling is a great way to get to where you need to go. The Oslo City bikes are distributed evenly throughout the city, with one station just down the street, at Sofienberggata 8 (Olaf Ryes Plass). Check out www.oslobysykkel.no for more information.
